Improper use of Ryu
The use of Do in Japanese martial arts is generally used with Karate styles. There have been a few JuJitsu names where the practitioner has added the Do to the style name but is not necessarily the correct use of "Do".
The use of the word "Ryu" is style of martial art or style of JuJitsu. The proper way to use the term the Ryu would be after the style name as in Can-Ryu JuJitsu.
It would not be appropriate even in modern times to Ryu after the style name. An example might be T - JuJitsu Ryu. This would indicate that the style name is JuJitsu, which would be a rather large claim. You might have a few thousand Jujitsuka knocking of the Dojo door.
There are less traditional JuJitsu styles around in Canada and many of these styles have accepted the modern side of JuJitsu with the sport age.
There are lots of inexperienced Sensei(s) who want to start their own style name and either use their surname or a inapropriate Japanese name for the style.
There are not very many new Japanese styles of JuJitsu being developed these days the newest styles are approximately 10 or more years old.
User beware.
